Bio

Co-founder and kaikōkiri of Project Rangatahi, Rāhiri Mākuini (Te Tai Rāwhiti whānui, Taranaki whānui, Ta Imi Moriori) is passionate about taonga and Kaupapa Māori. Having grown up between Te Tai Hauāuru & Te Tairāwhiti, now resides in Te Wairoa, Rāhiri is interested in creative whānau, hapū, and hāpori led solutions to the challenges currently facing kāinga across our motu.

Organisation

Project Rangatahi was founded in 2018 by tauira of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngāti Kahungunu o Te Wairoa, with the wawata to grow opportunities with and for other rangatahi Māori. Currently based in Te Wairoa Hōpūpū Hōngenengene Matangirau, Project Rangatahi kupenga and mahi extends across Aotearoa, Te Waipounamu, & Rēkohu. Alongside research, the Project Rangatahi mahi includes wānanga, resource and content development, animation, and event management. As proud uri of wayfinding tīpuna, tūpuna, & karāpuna, this rōpū of rangatahi Māori & rangitehi Moriori work to pave positive pathways and create impact through the kaupapa of whakapapa, taiao, & hapori.
