This morning we discussed with Eruera Lee Morgan the “Wai Ora, Kāinga Ora” project, which focuses on water regeneration and ecosystem restoration in Māori communities. He explored the project’s goals, innovative research approaches that integrate Mātauranga Māori with disciplines like science and engineering, and the shift from traditional water management by de-emphasizing the separation of different types of water. He also covered strategies for community engagement and collaboration, as well as how the research findings will be applied to improve local water practices.
